    Product Description

Thirteen years after the original series run, the next mind-bending chapter of The X-Files is a thrilling, six-episode event series from creator/executive producer Chris Carter, with stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson re-inhabiting their roles as iconic FBI Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. Mitch Pileggi also returns as FBI Assistant Director Walter Skinner – Mulder and Scully’s boss – who walks a fine line between loyalty to these investigators and accountability to his superiors. This marks the momentous return of the Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning pop culture phenomenon, which remains one of the longest-running sci-fi series in network television history.

The event series encompasses a mixture of stand-alone episodes and those that further the original show’s seminal mythology. In the opening episode, Mulder and Scully take on a case of a possible alien abductee. The all-new episodes feature appearances by guest stars including Joel McHale (Community), Robbie Amell (The Flash), Lauren Ambrose (Six Feet Under), Annabeth Gish (The Bridge), Annet Mahendru (The Americans), Rhys Darby (Flight of the Conchords), Kumail Nanjiani (Silicon Valley) and William B. Davis, who reprises his role as "Cigarette Smoking Man." Three of the episodes are written and directed by Chris Carter, with the remaining new episodes written and directed by original series veterans Glen Morgan, Darin Morgan and James Wong.

The X-Files originally premiered in September 1993. Over the course of its nine-season run, the influential series went from breakout sci-fi favorite to massive global hit, and became one of the most successful television dramas of all time. The show, which earned 16 Emmy Awards, five Golden Globes and a Peabody Award, follows FBI special agents Scully (Anderson) and Mulder (Duchovny), as they investigate unexplained cases – "X-Files" – for which the only answers involve paranormal phenomena.

Collection of all seven films from the highly successful comedy series. In 'Police Academy' (1984), a new mayor offers a motley crew of misfits the chance to oil the wheels of justice when he lifts the restrictions that normally apply for recruiting new members to the police force. The academy has the onerous task of knocking them into law-enforcing shape. 'Police Academy 2 - Their First Assignment' (1985) sees six of the inept recruits being transferred to another precinct, where the lieutenant's promotion depends on them flunking their training course. They also face trouble on the streets in the form of a gang of sociopaths, led by a psychobabbling lunatic. In 'Police Academy 3 - Back in Training' (1986), the police budget is being cut, so one of the two training academies faces the chop. It's up to the former graduates of Commandant Lassard (George Gaynes)'s academy to save their old training ground. In 'Police Academy 4 - Citizens On Patrol' (1987), our rookie cops try to involve the local community in order to prevent crime. However, their efforts are thwarted by Captain Harris (G. W. Bailey) who is determined to scupper the plans of the group which has caused him so much trouble in the past. 'Police Academy 5 - Assignment Miami Beach' (1988) sees Commandant Lassard finally reach retirement age. The whole gang fly down to Miami to watch him receive an award. The only problem is that he's picked up the wrong bag at the airport and is now in possession of some stolen diamonds belonging to a bunch of crooks. In 'Police Academy 6 - City Under Siege' (1989), a criminal holds the city to ransom by masterminding a spate of burglaries and fraud. To make matters worse, the rookie cops have a plan to stop him. 'Police Academy 7 - Mission to Moscow' (1994) sees the fabled police team helping out in post-Soviet Union Russia. The Russians have a problem on their hands when Mafia godfather Konali (Ron Perlman) hatches a plan to control the entire world via an addictive computer game. The year is 2029, the world is made borderless by the net; augmented humans who live in virtual environments. Watched over by law enforcement agents that are able to download themselves into super-powered, crime busting mecha. The ultimate secret agent of the future is not human, has no physical body and can travel freely through the information highways of the world. Hacking and manipulating whatever, whomever and whenever required

The skilful blending of drawn animation and computer-generated imagery excited anime fans when this science fiction mystery was released in 1995: many enthusiasts believe Ghost suggests what the future of anime will be, at least in the short term. The film is set in the not-too-distant future, when an unnamed government uses lifelike cyborgs or "enhanced" humans for undercover work. One of the key cyborgs is The Major, Motoko Kusanagi, who resembles a cross between The Terminator and a Playboy centrefold. She finds herself caught up in a tangled web of espionage and counterespionage as she searches for the mysterious superhacker known as "The Puppet Master."

Mamoru Oshii directs with a staccato rhythm, alternating sequences of rapid-fire action (car chases, gun battles, explosions) with static dialogue scenes that allow the characters to sort out the vaguely mystical and rather convoluted plot. Kusanagi's final quote from I Corinthians suggests that electronic evolution may compliment and eventually supplant organic evolution. The minor nudity, profanity, and considerable violence would earn Ghost in the Shell at least a PG rating. --Charles Solomon --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

    Product Description

Every unforgettable exploit of world-renowned, globetrotting hero Indiana Jones is featured with pristine picture and sound in Indiana Jones: The Complete Adventures. The cinematic classic that started it all--Raiders of the Lost Ark--has been meticulously restored under the supervision of director Steven Spielberg and sound designer Ben Burtt. Additionally, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade have both been remastered alongside 2008’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull making this landmark release the first time all four films in the epic and award-winning franchise have been available together in sparkling high definition.

In addition to all of Indy’s thrilling adventures, the set includes seven hours of fascinating documentaries, featurettes and interviews with cast members and filmmakers. This comprehensive collection of behind-the-scenes bonus features is augmented by a brand new two-part documentary entitled “On Set with Raiders of the Lost Ark – From Jungle to Desert and From Adventure to Legend.” Featuring nearly an hour of rarely seen footage from the set of the film and archival interviews with Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and Harrison Ford, these captivating pieces transports fans back to where the legend began.

Raiders of the Lost Ark has been painstakingly restored with careful attention to preserving the original look, sound and feel of the iconic film. The original negative was scanned at 4K and then examined frame-by-frame so that any damage could be repaired. The sound design was similarly preserved using Burtt’s original master mix, which had been archived and unused since 1981. New stereo surrounds were created using the original music tracks and original effects recorded in stereo but used previously only in mono. In addition, the sub bass was redone entirely up to modern specifications and care was taken to improve dialogue and correct small technical flaws to create the most complete and highest quality version of the sound possible while retaining the director’s vision.

    The X-Files: The Event Series
    Format: Blu-ray
